Whiplash Treatment in Brampton — Chiropractic & Physiotherapy After a Motor Vehicle Accident

The accident might have seemed minor. A rear-end collision. Low speed. No visible damage. But three days later, your neck is stiff, your head aches, and you are starting to feel symptoms you did not have before the crash.

That is whiplash — and the delay in symptom onset is normal. The cervical spine absorbs a rapid acceleration-deceleration force that stretches and strains the soft tissues in ways that do not always show up immediately. The research is clear: the sooner whiplash is treated, the better the outcomes. Waiting makes it harder.

Executive Rehab in Brampton is an MVA-authorized provider. We work directly with auto insurance adjusters and help you navigate every step of your claim from day one.

    WHO THIS IS FOR

Don't Let Whiplash Disrupt Your Recovery

If you have been in a motor vehicle accident in Brampton, Caledon, Bolton, Etobicoke, Toronto, Vaughan, Mississauga, or anywhere in the Peel Region — and you have any of the following symptoms — you need to be assessed within the first 10 days of the accident:

    SYMPTOMS THAT NEED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION

    • Neck pain or stiffness
    • Headaches that started after the accident
    • Shoulder or upper back pain
    • Dizziness or difficulty concentrating
    • Arm pain, numbness, or tingling
    • Jaw pain or ringing in the ears
    • Low back pain

You do not need to be in crisis to come in. Mild symptoms after a car accident are still whiplash-associated disorder (WAD) — and mild WAD treated early has significantly better outcomes than mild WAD that is left and becomes chronic.

    HOW IT WORKS

What Happens to Your Neck in a Whiplash Injury

In a rear-end collision, your head and torso move at different speeds for a fraction of a second. The cervical spine — your neck — is forced into a rapid S-curve: first extending beyond normal range, then flexing. This happens faster than your muscles can react to protect the joints.

The result is a stretch injury to the anterior and posterior cervical ligaments, the facet joint capsules, the muscles and fascia, and sometimes the intervertebral discs. In more significant impacts, nerve root irritation and concussion-related symptoms can also be present.

Whiplash-associated disorder is graded from 0 to IV:

    1

    Grade 0

No symptoms (rare in true MVA patients)

    2

    Grade I

Neck pain, stiffness, or tenderness only

    3

    Grade II

Neck symptoms plus musculoskeletal signs — reduced range of motion, point tenderness

    4

    Grade III

Neck symptoms plus neurological signs — altered reflexes, sensation, or strength

    5

    Grade IV

Fracture or dislocation — requires emergency management

Grades I–III are treated conservatively. Executive Rehab manages Grade I and II presentations directly. Grade III is co-managed with your physician. We assess your grade at your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.

    WHY US

How Executive Rehab Treats Whiplash in Brampton

    Image

    Chiropractic Care

Cervical and thoracic mobilization to restore joint mobility, reduce facet joint irritation, and interrupt the pain-spasm cycle. Soft tissue therapy to the cervical musculature. Safe and adapted for the acute and subacute phases of whiplash recovery — aggressive manipulation is not used in the acute stage.

    Physiotherapy

Graded range of motion exercises starting in the first week to prevent the stiffness that becomes chronic if the neck is immobilized. Deep cervical flexor retraining to restore motor control in the muscles that were inhibited by the injury. Manual therapy to restore cervical segmental movement. Concussion-screening and vestibular assessment where indicated.

    Image

    Bioflex Laser Therapy

Reduces acute cervical inflammation and accelerates soft tissue healing in the early post-accident phase — without requiring manual pressure on an already sensitized area. Often used in the first 1–2 weeks post-accident to reduce pain and enable earlier active rehabilitation.

    Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)

Addresses the significant muscle guarding and spasm that accompanies most whiplash presentations. RMT is billable under MVA benefits and is an effective adjunct to chiropractic and physiotherapy in the subacute phase.
